Meet the Spring 2013 QUTV News Team!

Chairtye Boyd, Reporter

Chairtye Boyd is a junior broadcasting major at Quincy University. She joins the team as a co-anchor and reporter. This is her first year with QUTV..
 

Ashley Cahill, Reporter/Production Assistant

Ashley is a freshman at Quincy University. She joins the team as a general reporter and runs cameras during TV tapings.This is her first semester at QUTV.

Jeremy Culver, Anchor/Reporter/Producer

Jeremy Culver is a sophomore Broadcasting major. In addition to producing Season 5 of QUTV, he produces and co-hosts the sports show "Clutch Time" seen on QUTV.

Joshua Hale, Reporter/Technical Director

Joshua is a junior broadcasting major at QU and is involved with a number of campus organizations such as QUTV, Delta Tau Delta fraternity, and Quincy University Residence Life. He graduates in May of 2014 and hopes to pursue a career in broadcast news.

Randy is a sophomore sports communication major. He has worked for the Falcon as a photographer for two years and has served on the Student Conduct Board for two years. This is his first year at QUTV. 



Travis Yates, Executive Producer

Travis Yates
Yates is the Executive Producer for QUTV and an Instructor of Communication in the QU Communication Department.  His courses at QU include broadcasting, media, and public relations   Prior to joining Quincy University, Yates served as Senior News Producer at WSIL Television in Carbondale, Ill., and News and Special Projects Producer at WGEM Television in Quincy, Ill.

Yates is an Emmy-winning writer who freelances as a commercial producer and moonlights as an independent filmmaker.  He holds an B.A. in Mass Communication and Media Arts and a Master of Science in Education.

Christina Mueller

Christina began her broadcasting career at QUTV as a reporter, producer and anchor. Upon graduation, she began her professional career at CBS affiliate KHQA in Quincy, IL. She is currently the weekend weather anchor and weekday reporter at ABC affiliate QICS in Springfield, IL.

Bryan Witt

After leaving QU and, Bryan landed his dream role at KWQC HD6 in Davenport, IA. KWQC is a top 100
station that covers both sides of the Mississippi in the Quad Cites. Within that station is Paula Sands Live, a live variety talk show. His role for the show on air is a comedic reporter in his own segment called “By the Way with Bryan Witt,” where he covers unique things happening in the Quad Cities. He has competed against the Harlem Globetrotters, skated with Disney on Ice and attended numerous concerts and plays to show people what is happening in the viewing area. Behind the scenes he works as a studio photographer and segment producer booking live guest for the weekday show. He also co-produces the noon news and shoots sports for the Friday night highlight show.

Pete Leja

Pete is a Master Control Operator at NBC affiliate WGEM in Quincy, IL. He supervises several of the stations that air through WGEM's head corporation Quincy Newspapers, Inc. (QNI), including CGEM-FOX, the CW in Quincy, WVVA-NBC and the CW in Bluefield, West Va., and WSJV-FOX
and Live Well in South Bend, IN.

Courtne Matthews

Courtne is a Master Control Operator and recently added Weekend Director to her job title at CBS affiliate KHQA in Quincy, IL. She served as Technical Director while at QUTV.

Jamie Kiefer

Jamie is the morning producer at NBC affiliate WGEM. After leaving QUTV, she joined WGEM as a production assistant and was quickly promoted to her current role.
The QU Communication program provides students with knowledge, practical opportunities, and grounding in ethical principles to prepare them to meet the challenges and opportunities of professional and personal communication. Students are guided to synthesize learning in the varied fields of communication and to apply their abilities with respect for each individual and within a context of service to the profession and their communities.
